What Is Spravato?
Spravato is an innovative treatment for Major Depressive Disorder that has not responded to conventional therapies.
If you have not found significant relief from your depression symptoms after trying at least two different antidepressants, this could be the next option for you!
For the first four weeks, treatments are twice weekly, followed by four more weeks of weekly sessions. After eight weeks, you and Dr. David Wolff, M.D. will create an ongoing (maintenance) plan together.

A typical treatment course
The first step in the Spravato treatment process is determining whether or not Spravato is an appropriate treatment for you. Shore TMS offers a free initial screening with our intake specialist to determine if you may be a candidate for treatment. During this consultation, we will review your symptoms, treatment history, and possible treatment plans.
Shore TMS has a team in place to make the often overwhelming insurance process manageable. Our goal is to assist you in gaining access to Spravato Therapy as quickly as possible by working with your insurance provider and securing coverage. Since insurance companies have their own requirements, you must first have a free consultation to determine if you meet those requirements.

Free Consultation

If you are a possible candidate, after the initial free consultation, you will be scheduled to see Dr. Wolff, our director. Dr. Wolff will see you for a full psychiatric evaluation and discuss Spravato treatment with you.

Spravato Evaluation with Dr. Wolff
Each Spravato treatment session begins with the patient self-administering the nasal spray in two to three doses, under medical supervision. One of our caring staff members will be with you at all times throughout the duration of your treatment session.
Patients often feel the effects of Spravato most intensely around 40 minutes after the first dose, and then they slowly subside. Patients stay for a duration of two hours of monitoring after Spravato treatments for their safety, and we ask that they arrange transportation home in advance.
As you are monitored, our office is able to provide soothing music, mindfulness meditations, and aromatherapy. Patients are welcome to bring in their own entertainment for the two-hour monitoring period.

What Are the Side Effects of Spravato?
Side effects can vary in intensity, and not everyone will experience the following effects:
- Sedation: This is the most commonly reported side effect. Many patients find themselves needing a nap after receiving Spravato, but this sedation typically lessens over time.
- Dissociation: Some individuals may feel a sense of disconnection from themselves, their thoughts, emotions, or their surroundings.
- Blood Pressure Changes: A temporary rise in blood pressure may occur and can last for about four hours following a dose. We will monitor your blood pressure throughout your treatment.
- Nausea: Some patients may experience nausea after administration of Spravato.
- Anxiety: A short-term increase in anxiety symptoms can occur in some individuals after taking Spravato.
